The Florence Marble David:
Until the year 2000, all history books (for some hundreds of years) declare that the height of Michelangelo's limestone David in the Accademia in Town, measures 434 cm (without his foot, but including the carved rock get which he is standing) .
Then, in February and March 1999, efficient group of Stanford University scientists were allowed to make scans of Painter and to their surprise they find out that their tower was too petite. See pic left below. Here task their story:
